Maldivian president who for some reason has this firm believe that MDP members are only people worth of being Maldivians and ironically following the footsteps of president of USA gives a radio speech once a week. I being the lazy and unworthy citizen of the country didn’t have the opportunity to hear the speech until this Friday.
I was in a taxi when the dramatic music started playing, and then came our beloved president. I couldn’t believe my ears, for few seconds I thought the radio station was messed up and was broadcasting a MDP gathering instead. The taxi driver confirmed otherwise.
Remembering the part I heard, the self proclaimed champion of democracy, the Mandela of Maldives has publicly mocked, threatened a certain Judge for refusing to issue a search warrant for confiscating some documents for a police investigation.
So here in Maldives when the chief judge of the criminal court turns down a warrant appeal (by the police), the president who hears the news in the morning as he is taking a leak in the bathroom runs all the way to criminal court, in his Pjs, namecalling, mocking and alleging the judge for obstructing "justice".
Welcome to Other Maldives.
